I recently stumbled across a website that I want to share with you that has a host of information about health and debunks lots of myths. It’s simply amazing how much conflicting information you can find about nutrition. Are dairy products good for us or not? Should be really be eating carbs? How much water should we drink in a day? We all can probably come up with a list of things that are confusing or leave us with questions regarding health and nutrition.

The Nutrition Source is a website maintained by Harvard’s School of Public Health and it’s chock full of interesting information about healthy eating, nutrition, exercise, disease and many other topics. I can’t wait for you to check it out and let me know what you think. I have a hunch you’ll find it a useful resource to give you an unbiased and research-based perspective on great health. Just one more way for you to get and stay informed and worry less about your health while getting into action.

One of my favorite resources is called Nutrition Action Health Letter. Many years ago an old boyfriend turned me onto it, and I’ve loved it every since. Why? Because if we don’t get empowered about our health and stand up for ourselves who will? I liken it to going to the doctor, not being happy with the answers you’re getting and pushing and prodding until you feel satisfied that your questions or concerns have really been addressed (or find another doctor). This publication helps you get to the heart of what’s really true and what’s not when it comes to health and nutrition.

This is a monthly publication that is published by Center for Science in the Public Interest. I love it because it provides important information about health and nutrition that’s unbiased - that’s hard to find these days. It’s enlightening and informative at the same time and has sections like Food Porn – which is the truth about what’s contained in many of the products we buy and eat. There are also healthy recipes that I love and information about a range of health topics that are relevant to most of us. I also really love that the Center for Science in the Public Interest is about more than just the newsletter. They advocate on behalf of the public and urge us to be advocates too – healthier food in the schools, nutrition information on restaurant menus and a whole lot more.

I really encourage you to take a look and be inspired to action. The quality of the food we eat and what we choose to put into our bodies generally isn’t that good. What are you going to do about it? What are you already doing? I invite you to share your thoughts.

It’s safe to eat meat from cloned animals. That at least, was the assessment from the FDA this week when they went public with the information that it shouldn’t make a difference whether the meat comes from a cloned animal or not, and that they’ll be testing public opinion about it. And they say that cloned meat won’t be available for sale anytime soon, but is it really safe?

I don’t know about you, but nothing about this sounds good to me. I struggle with the quality of meat that’s available even now, which isn’t even from cloned animals. And I’m suspect about their safety claims when there’s still so much we don’t know about cloning.

What do you think? Are you concerned? Does it matter? And to what degree do you think that the food you’re eating right now, is of high quality?
