My Favorite Kitchen Gadget – A Hand Blender
One of my favorite kitchen tools for making food preparation and life easier is a hand (aka immersion) blender. I’m always looking for shortcuts and simple strategies to minimize my time in the kitchen. And if I can make cooking more fun, then that’s an added benefit. That’s why I love the ease of using such a blender to whip up healthy meals and snacks, with limited stress or worry.
I make lots of soups in the winter and they often require pureeing. In the past, I’ve spent far too much time ladling soup into a blender in batches and then putting it back in the pot. I hate doing this – it’s so darn messy and time consuming!
So when I purchased the immersion blender several years it was downright liberating. Nothing like leaving everything in one pot, pushing the button and in less than a minute or two, it’s pureed to perfection. Who can’t love that?! I have this Cuisinart Hand Blender that cost about $50, not too bad for something that I get a lot of use out of and plan to get lots more years of service from it. The good news is that you can find a variety of blenders in different price ranges. Take a look at some ideas here.
I also love the immersion blender for making smoothies and you can even take it on the road and use it in your hotel room if you can gather the ingredients you need. There are endless possibilities for simplifying your life with this handy tool.
