Chocolate anyone? Raw chocolate, that is

Are you familiar with cacao aka raw chocolate? Bursting with nutrients, it is so different than the Hershey bar you may have your eye on. I love cacao because of the health benefits – it has lots of whole food nutrients. And I like to experiment and try using it in different ways – in smoothies and recipes.

Truth is, it is bitter to me in it’s raw form, but with a little imagination, you can do all kinds of creative things and get all the health benefits too! What’s better than a simple and quick way to focus on healthy eating and make you feel good at the same time?!

  1. I recently discovered “Sweet Riot” at Pier 1, and they are fabulous! The company calls them small “peaces” of cacao beans covered in dark chocolate. I got them in little tins, and each tin is only 140 calories! Problem is, I can eat a bunch of the tins; they’re so good!
