I have just purchased my first pedometer, an a href="http://www.pedometershop.co.uk/pedometers/omron-walking-style-pro-pedometer.html">Omron Walking Style Pro Pedometer.</a> I was really shocked to learn that I was only averaging around 4,000 steps a day, well below the recommended 10,000 steps.

I have used the pedometer every day since and found it has been an excellent way to stay motivated and track my progress. I am now up to around 8,000 steps a day minimum. Still a little way to go before I reach the 10,000 but I will get there and it is all because of my little pedometer.
