The Power of Deep Breathing

I don’t know about you, but I notice that when I breathe more deeply it helps me calm down. This is coming from someone that used to be a perpetual worrier. I worried about everything, especially about how I would get everything done each day. I really suffered from anxiety and often was “in my head,” constantly making lists, thinking about all the things I needed to do and basically making myself miserable. I found it really hard to be “present” whether at work, with friends or at home because I was always thinking about what was coming next.

One things that has helped me calm down and worry less is doing yoga. I love yoga because I get to exercise, focus on my breathing and calm down all at the same time. I’m  fond of a DVD that I’ve gotten in the habit of doing every morning. It’s called “Kundalini Yoga for Beginners and Beyond” that I stumbled upon thanks to a friend. What’s so great about it? It’s all about getting you focused on deep breathing. It was a little tough at first but once I got the hang of it, I noticed the placid feeling I get when I’m done. My mind slows down, I get in touch with my body and I feel calm and centered – quite an achievement for me.  It’s such an easy solution to help you worry less, feel energized and ready for the day.

What do you do to breathe more deeply, worry less and calm down? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas!

  1. Hey – super enterprise, just looking around some on-line store, would seem a pretty amazing platform you’re using. I’m at this time using Wordpress for a couple of of my data but looking to adjust one of them over to a platform equivalent to yours as being trial work. Anything in particular you’d probably recommend about it?

  2. Good website! I really love how it is nice on my eyes it is. I am wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I’ve subscribed to your RSS which may do the trick? Have a great day!
